The Ideal Gift for Christmas by George
Wood
When we spend money on gifts, we want them to be really special and something
of real use to somebody. Giving a gift a personal touch and putting some thought
in buying it makes it very special. You cannot just buy anything for anyone. You
have to think what each person likes and what his or her reaction would be on
receiving a particular gift. Making small notes of appreciation and gluing them
on top of the gift, or making some shapes using the gift-wrap are some of the
ideas to personalize your gifts.
A gift is a symbol of your love for others, so it should be chosen with care.
You want your loved ones to feel that they are being loved and cherished by you.
You can combine a few ideas to make unique gifts this year. A pouch of
chocolates and some nice small gift items is a good idea. You can make a
colorful pouch yourself. There are so many cool things on the Web. You just have
to search and note down some funky ideas to make wonderful gifts.
Humorous gifts also tell others how much you care for them to have thought of
such an idea to make them smile. It is always very touchy to give something out
of your own possession which somebody may have admired or appreciated at some
point. Polish it a little and wrap it in a beautiful gift wrap to give it a new
look. Buy something for the bedroom or living room and help them in deciding
where it should be placed. Try to have everything in perfect harmony so that
nothing may look out of place or disoriented.
A little planning can save you a lot of money on expensive gifts. There can
be so many ways by which you can make Christmas the happiest time of the year
with special and perfect gifts for your loved ones.
Buying Christmas Corporate Gifts: Purchasing Christmas gifts for your
colleagues and boss is a difficult task. Thoughtful and valuable gifts will make
them more open and bring them closer to you. However, the problem is what to buy
and how much to spend. You have to think of items that will be received with
enthusiasm. You want those people to appreciate your efforts and enjoy Christmas
together.
What you need to consider is what everybody likes and how they are going to
react upon receiving those gifts. Do not underestimate or overestimate your
relationship with each of your colleagues. You do not want to offend anyone, so
you have to be very careful while choosing corporate gifts. Small, elegant and
humble gifts are appreciated ones by most people. In the corporate world no one
wants to be burdened with emotions or anything that will come in the way of
their work. So, keeping emotions aside, think of something that will be useful
and memorable for your colleagues.
The best Christmas corporate gift for anyone is a hand-made beautiful card
with appreciative words written on it. Do not forget that you have to work with
these people everyday, so do not write anything that might embarrass you in
front of others. A gift certificate or a shopping voucher is also a modest gift
which will not raise any bias among any of your colleagues. Try to choose gifts
which are not gender-oriented. You can buy the same gift for everyone with a few
modifications of your own.
Enjoy Christmas with everyone around to maintain a peaceful environment and
spend money on sensible and meaningful gifts.

Christmas Gifts: Making Your List and Checking It
Twice by Noel Jameson
Hey you! Yes -- you! Have you started your Christmas list yet? No? What are
you waiting for! You've only got a few weeks until Christmas is here.
Well, okay, maybe it's more like four weeks, but that's not a lot of time
considering the fact that you have to buy gifts for everybody from Amanda to
Zelda and everyone in between. If you want to make sure no one is accidentally
left off your Christmas list this year, you'd better start your planning now.
Why Do You Need a Christmas List?
Before you even think about buying Christmas gifts this year, you absolutely
have to make a Christmas list. Why? Well think about this...
You're at the family Christmas party and you're sitting there with your
eggnog and cookies and suddenly good old Aunt Sue walks in. Suddenly the blood
rushes from your face and you get a sinking feeling in your stomach.
You forgot about Aunt Sue! How could you forget about Aunt Sue?
What are you going to do? The stores are closed and you have nothing to give
her! What's she going to think? What's everyone else going to think? YOU are the
GRINCH!
Tsk, tsk, tsk... Had you started planning your Christmas list a few weeks
before Christmas, you wouldn't have forgotten dear Aunt Sue.
Back to the Present
Snap back into reality. It's not too late!
Christmas isn't yet here and you do have time to start making your Christmas
list.
As you can see, creating a Christmas list before you begin shopping is
helpful for a number of different reasons.
First of all, as we've discussed, a Christmas shopping list will help you
keep track of who you've shopped for and who still needs Christmas gifts.
Second of all, it helps you keep track of your budget. If you have $800 to
spend on Christmas gifts and there are 20 people on your list, you know you're
in trouble if you've got $200 left and there's only five people crossed off your
list.
And by the way, as you look over your Christmas list, you many want to check
out SuperChristmasGifts.com. Although this website doesn't sell anything, you'll
find great Christmas gift ideas and advice for buying gifts for everyone on your
list -- from accountants to wrestling fans... from coworkers to
mother-in-laws... from teachers to rednecks. http://www.superchristmasgifts.com
Hop To It!
So what are you waiting for? Take out a piece of paper and begin writing down
every person you need to buy Christmas gifts for.
As the weeks between now and Christmas go by and you remember names you
forgot, add the people to the list as you think of them.
When you believe your Christmas list is complete, make sure you ask your
spouse or children to look over the list to see if you forgot anyone. This will
ensure that you don't forget to purchase Christmas gifts for anyone this Holiday
Season.

10 Fantastic Christmas Gift Ideas for Kitchen
Lovers! by Jennie Wills
The Christmas season is upon us, and stress has begun to fill the air!
Sometimes we just don't have the time to be creative! As giving should never be
a source of stress I felt the need to share my personal gift ideas for Christmas
this year for those who find it difficult to get out of the kitchen. I hope you
find inspiration!
1. Cookware. Every cook loves new cookware. No surprise there, but there are
ways to make this gift more special. For example a new sauce pan would be a
wonderful present for under the Christmas tree, but in addition, find a great
sauce recipe to be used as a stocking stuffer along with all the required
ingredients!
2. Flavored Oils and Vinegars. A sure way to create a new or improve an old
dish! New oils and vinegars are always a treat for a cook, you can never have
enough! Walnut oil, Avocado oil, Truffle oil, simply take a look around your
local specialty food store and you will be amazed at the variety today!
3. Plastic Storage Containers. They must be of the best quality which are
able to go into the freezer, dishwasher, and microwave! I don't know how but
these containers always seem to disappear and you can never have enough of them
or enough sizes. Why not buy several different shapes and sizes but fill them
full of special nuts or candies to make this gift more special than plain old
plastic!
4. Liquor. Although we all like to have a little Christmas cheer, there is
another wonderful use for liquor in the kitchen. It is essential for creating
beautiful demi-glazes for your favorite meat dishes and most likely your cook at
home will not splurge on such luxurious liquids. So why not help your favorite
chef out and purchase a few bottles of liquor to cook with! Brandy, Sherry,
Bourbon and Madeira are all fantastic to use.
5. Wine. Like liquor wine is also essential for deglazing pans and creating
incredible sauces. Again, why not include a recipe as a stocking stuffer as
well. Inspiration is always welcomed by any cook.
6. Coffee & Tea. Most kitchen lovers love coffee if not to drink, to cook
with. So why not create a specialty coffee gift basket? It's easy to find local
free trade coffee in you neighborhood specialty food store and while you're
there by some cinnamon sticks, honey, flavored syrups etc. Why not also throw in
some specialty coffee mugs and some liquors such as Baileys or Kahlua. What a
treat!! Tea is also widely used in kitchens today. Instead of boring brines, use
tea instead!
7. Cookbooks. Again another "no-brainer" but if they truly love to cook then
they LOVE cookbooks. We never get tired of cookbooks, but be sure to find the
best ones. Look for a specialty cookbook store and you'll have a fantastic gift
in your hands.
8. Microplane. If you're special chef does not have one then here is another
must have kitchen item. They are inexpensive and vital when adding or enhancing
flavor in dishes. Why not combine a Microplane with several of its favorite
counterparts like whole nutmeg, whole cinnamon, whole star anise etc. That way
your chef can get right down to business!
9. Appliances. Maybe not an oven or a fridge but why not a new electric mixer
or Panini press? Here's a shopping tip... when wanting to purchase any of these
items this year buy on-line! Small appliances are almost always less expensive
when purchased on-line and shipping is often waived as well. Stores charge a
premium this time of year so save yourself time and money and buy on -line!
10. Tableware. If they love to cook then they love to entertain. Why not find
beautiful glassware, or placemats, or service plates that they can show off
their creations with. Unique paper napkins make great stocking stuffers and
linen napkins with gorgeous napkin rings are always a treat.
So don't let stress take the fun out of Christmas this season. There are
truly plenty of ways to put smiles on faces this year. And for one last
suggestion: make your own Specialty Gift Basket! Create your own gift basket by
combining several of the above ideas. Now that is an incredible gift for any
kitchen lover!

Give Flowers During the Holidays
by George White
The big holiday celebrations are just around the corner now, and thoughts are
turning to gifts, food, and decorating. Whether it is Thanksgiving, Christmas,
Hanukkah, or Kwanzaa; you don't have to get stuck in the same rut you may have
been in for years when it comes to appropriate gift giving and decorating.
There are always those people you want to give a nice gift to, but just don't
know what you should get. There are those you want to say thank you to for a
great job done. Maybe you want to do something creatively different this year in
your own decorating for the holidays.
Cure your holiday gift giving blues by giving flowers. There are so many
great varieties available during the fall and winter. Some pretty Christmas
favorites include: Tulips, Hyacinths, Poinsettias, and Narcissus. You are sure
to stand out by sending that special someone a bouquet of holiday blooms.
There are so many ways to use them too. Place a live flower arrangement on
the table for a centerpiece; nothing says elegance like live flowers. You don't
have to confine yourself to the traditional red either. Think of a white and
green centerpiece made up of white tulips and evergreen boughs for a beautiful
winter tablescape. Or for a more unique look, try an arrangement using flowers
and live succulents. It will last a long time if cared for properly. Use winter
roses in your Christmas tree: Try pink rather than red. Put Paperwhite Narcissus
in a blue vase on your Hanukah table. Use greenery in abundance for your Kwanzaa
party. And, of course, you can place live poinsettias in the wreath hanging on
your front door. Live flowers are especially lovely when used with tiny white
lights. And you can't use too many of either during a holiday celebration, so
get plenty of each. Flowers and candles make a serene setting in the bathroom.
And, every work desk should have a plant or flowers on it all the time. It is
cheery and brightens what might be a dark spot.
Greenery has been associated with the holidays dating back to the use of
decorated trees, boughs of holly, fir garlands, and the list goes on. Only your
imagination can hamper your creativity. With the use of colorful blooming bulbs,
any greenery can be dressed up like a belle going to a ball. And of course there
is always that sensuous perfume associated with some flowers. That mixed with
the scent of evergreen will ensure everyone will remember your home for years to
come.
So, don't limit your creative juices this holiday season, think unusual
colors, live flowers and greenery, and think of different and unique places to
use them.

Express Your Love With Wonderful Christmas
Gifts by Susan Chen
Christmas is almost upon us, and there is much excitement and warmth in the
air as the season of sharing and gift giving draws nearer despite the December
chill. Christmas decorations and illumination brighten up your home and leaves
everyone feeling festive and happy.
During the Christmas season the world is adorned with many Christmas
imageries, such as that of Santa, decorated Christmas trees, pretty Christmas
ornaments, slow-burning candles, family gatherings and carol singing - all
brighten up your mood and abode despite the snow and the cold outside.
But what adds to the festivities and joy of Christmas is simply the act of
selfless giving and sharing that brings out the more compassionate, more loving
side of each and every person. It is this tradition of giving Christmas gifts
that embodies the true spirit of Christmas, that is, the spirit of universal
love and compassion for all.
Everybody wants to impress his or her dear ones with an exquisite gift for
Christmas. But what exactly is the magic factor that makes a Christmas present
so meaningful and precious? No, it is not the gift nor the monetary value of the
gift itself; rather, Christmas gifts are special because they are an expression
of your love and appreciation.
No matter for whom you are buying the Christmas gift for, your Christmas
present will stand out from the rest of the presents if you follow these simple
rules:
* Use your imagination and your creativity to create a unique gift for
someone you love dearly.
* The gift should reflect how much thought and care you have devoted to
select it.
* Keep the personal preferences of the person in mind while choosing your
Christmas gift.
* Add some personal touches to turn a simple gift into a unique piece. For
example, buy a good quality fabric and embroider it yourself, or similarly, make
a spectacular pouch. The effort that you take to create these simple yet
meaningful objects speaks volumes of how much you care for your family and
friends, and thus makes the presents priceless in the eyes of your loved ones.
For more ideas on creative Christmas gift making, there are a lot of Christmas
craft ideas on the internet.
* Gifts that have been personalized especially for the recipient hold special
meaning. For example, present your wife a small gold pendant with her name
inscribed on it. Or surprise your teenage child with an exotic vacation. Buy
beautiful Christmas cards for your friends, but write short poems of good wishes
inside the cards to make your friend feel special and pampered.
As you can see there are so many ways that your Christmas gifts can make your
friends and family feel so special; you only have to be little creative and put
a little effort into the Christmas gifts to convey your message of love and
well-wishes.

Seasonal Marketing Secrets by Michael Oksa
"'Tis the season to be jolly", is how one Christmas song begins. If you're
trying to make money online, why be jolly? Because the holiday season can be the
time of year you make the most money, but only if you implement a good sales
strategy.
It's getting close to the holidays, and you may feel it is too late to use a
holiday marketing strategy. It's not too late to reap the benefits of this
holiday season's potential. So let's get started.
As a marketer it is a good idea to use any techniques that work. You want to
give your visitors reasons to stay at your site, and then follow through on a
purchase. Use these ideas to increase your sales.
* Include a seasonal greeting near the top of your page. For example: Happy
Holidays from [Your Site Name Here], or: Season's Greetings from [Your Site
Here].
* Add a few tasteful holiday graphics to your site. Use graphics that fit in
well with the rest of your site. Remember to keep the focus on your sales
message. Don't assault your visitors with dizzying images of Christmas trees,
Santa Clauses, reindeer, the sounds of sleigh bells and synthesized holiday
music, along with animated snowflakes falling in front of your sales message.
Your visitors may be impressed with all of the activity, but they may never
understand what you really offer.
* Offer additional enticements to buy such as: - A certain % off - Buy 1, get
1 free - Buy 1, get 1 at 1/2 price - Reduced or free shipping. - Guaranteed
arrival date if ordered by...
Whatever enticement you use, make it clear that it's only for the holidays.
Set, and stick to, a deadline for the end of the offer.
* Gently remind your visitors how close the holidays are. At the same time,
re-assure those who may feel it's already too late.
* Provide plenty of shipping options for physical goods, and extra bonuses
for digital goods.
You want to solve your visitors' problems.
* Send past and present customers an appropriate seasonal message. Do not
make this a sales piece. Tell them you appreciate them and wish them the best
for the holidays. Keep it tasteful by simply signing your name (along with your
business name).
Remember, the purpose is to develop and strengthen a relationship; it is not
to advertise your 'Big Holiday Blowout Sale!'
* Make it easy to give your products as gifts. Provide free gift wrapping.
Include a card from your purchaser to the recipient. If you have several items
for sale, break them down into price ranges: Under $20, $20-$30, $50 and up,
etc. The goal is to make your visitors see your product as a logical gift
choice.
* If you write articles: Come up with a holiday spin on your articles.
Instead of "12 Tips for Writing Winning Email" try "12 Cheery Holiday Email
Tips". Also, make these holiday articles more seasonal. For example, if one of
your tips in the first article is "Don't spam", then in the second article it
could read "Don't be a Scrooge by sending Holiday spam". Go through any of your
previous articles and see which ones can be revamped with a seasonal spin.
Even one or two of these tips could send some extra money your way. Of
course, you have to actually use them. When you do... consider it my gift to you
;)

What You Can Do To Make Your Holidays More
Meaningful by Samantha Tetro
This Holiday Season should be the most meaningful and fulfilling time of
year. We should feel warm, loved, and above all, be happy.
But studies show year after year that isn't always the case. While millions
of people enjoy the holidays, many more start feeling down in the dumps. Why?
There are several good reasons.
The Christmas season in the United States became commercialized about 150
years ago when large stores realized they could pull customers in with big
Christmas specials. Buying and giving gifts became a huge part of Christmas.
All the gift buying could be your favorite part of the season, but a growing
number of us report we spend too much, go into more debt, and don't feel all
that great about it afterward.
By January 1, you may feel like lots of good things were SUPPOSED to happen
to you, but never did. The result can be an unpleasant case of the winter blues.
Through all the hubub, you can forget the season is REALLY supposed to be
about loving and helping others. A clergy person and charities will probably
remind you loving others is what the holidays are about, but somehow that all
gets lost in the rush to give gifts and party.
My message to you this Holiday Season is to take a little time out of your
very busy schedule to help someone in need. You do more good than you'll know,
and YOU will feel great about it.
This could be as simple as giving a few cans of food to your local food bank
so a hungry family can eat, or leaving still wearable cloths at a drop box, or
inviting an elderly or single acquaintance to share dinner with your family.
The impact on these individuals in need can be vast. Not only will people be
getting the nutrition, clothing, and shelter they so often desperately need,
they'll feel like someone cares.
And knowing someone cares about you could well be the most important thing we
can posses. Going through life knowing you're down and out and, even worse, no
one cares, is a devastating thing that pushes people even lower.
The holidays can worsen the situation by making people who are living alone
feel even more alone. When you wake up on Christmas morning remembering when you
had a family happily gathering around the tree, but now you have no one -- well,
that's one of the hardest things in the world.
I, along with helpful volunteers, run a coffeehouse ministry on Long Island,
NY. Each Thanksgiving everyone comes down to help prepare dinner for those who
would be ALONE on this important day. People stream in to be part of the event.
You can't imagine how many people struggle and would have been by
themselves..They leave here like "family."
As Christmas and New Years approach, do what you can to help someone. I
guarantee your holidays will be more meaningful.

Creating Christmas Gift Baskets
by Rob Buenaventura
If you've ever ordered gift baskets online you've probably noticed that those
that are well thought out and presented are very often quite expensive. With
that in mind, have you ever considered creating your own Christmas gift baskets?
You can make them quite easily by selecting a theme and buying gifts and
products to compliment that them. Baskets can be found quite inexpensively at
local craft stores or can be purchased in bulk online. Another thing you can do
is recycle your own baskets. You can spray paint them to cover up any potential
flaws and add decorative wrapping, ribbons, bows, and/or tinsel in order to
complete the look.
Perhaps the easiest Christmas baskets to assemble revolve around food. You
can check out gourmet food sites online for ideas and inspiration revolving
around the idea of elegant gourmet gift baskets for Christmas. Some great things
to include in your gourmet gift basket include: gourmet cheeses, crackers,
and/or wine; gourmet coffees with mugs and perhaps coffee stirrers; a pasta
basket with flavored olive oil, sun dried tomatoes, or special blends of Italian
seasonings--the possibilities are limitless.
Christmas baskets that include bath, body, and or beauty products are also a
great gift idea. You can really have fun with these baskets by creating a theme.
If you're going for a Hawaiian theme you could include pineapple soap, a loofah,
orchid body spray, and perhaps coconut shampoo. You could elect a spa theme and
include bath bombs, salts, scrubs, and a nice back brush. You could also create
a cosmetic basket with ingredients such as nail polishes, lips sticks, brushes,
and other essential beauty accoutrement.
If you're really creative you can create gift baskets around the hobbies of
those on your list. For the movie buff you can create a gift basket with DVDs,
popcorn, and other essential movie snacks. For the Horse lover, you could
include a DVD or book about horses, a horseshoe key chain, or mug or calendar
that features horses. For the ice skater on your Christmas list you could
include extra laces, pretty gloves to wear while skating, and some nice warm
cocoas or ciders to warm them up after their time on the ice. If you are going
to be attending Christmas dinner be sure to bring the hostess a basket of
goodies to share and perhaps a nice bottle of wine to have with dinner.

Boyfriend Gift Ideas for this Christmas by
Natalie Aranda
You can feel it in the air, Christmas season is coming our way so before it
can find you doing anything else, get ready to jot down your Christmas gifts
list, because it is never too late or to early to write down gifts that you know
will be loved this holiday season.
Perhaps weird, or just odd, but every year we receive the same advice for
plan ahead for our shopping time. In fact, more than often, we have in mind a
series of Christmas gift ideas, but somehow we are caught before we could to
anything to implement at least one.
Lack of time seems to be the "illness" of present times, but if everything
turns around a boyfriend Christmas gift ideas, things change drastically. Your
boyfriend is your "other half" so it will never hurt if you dedicate some of
your spare time to finding meaningful Christmas gifts for him.
When it comes to Christmas gift ideas for
boyfriends, only you can determine what to give. There are present that have
no age or time, such as collectible action figures, but there are others more
suitable for the businessman, like an executive handheld set that would be
unsuitable if your boyfriend is a teenager, just like you.
Alternatively, who knows, there are young men who have well defined
professional careers since their early high school days and may feel amazingly
surprised with such a classy gift. On the other hand, a businessman will never
be too old to receive caramels or toys decorated following the instructions of
patterns with Christmas gift ideas or crafts for this very special season of the
year.
If this year is the right one for getting ready your list of Christmas gifts, add a special
section devoted to boyfriend Christmas gift ideas, and add as many items as you
think he will enjoy, whether alone or by your side sharing a kiss under your
mistletoe central decor.
Christmas gift ideas for boyfriends may include some of these presents: a
bottle of wine, a flashlight, or Swiss knife. If he enjoys games, try arcade
games, or a wrist exerciser for guys who like to stay in shape. Other ideas
include remote control vehicles, a digital camera, spy toys, a pocket
calculator, a radio with clock, multi flavored chocolates, sport gear, and many
others that your imagination dictates.
When is not time but lack of inspiration, ask your boyfriend about the things
he likes. In fact, where have you been? This is something that you should know
even before he actually turned into your boyfriend.
However never is too late to investigate, or nurture your inspiration with
other sources. There are excellent Christmas gift ideas and Christmas gift ideas
for boyfriends can be found by just surfing the Internet or taking a walk
browsing the Christmas gifts shops near to your home, so good luck and happy
shopping.

Christmas Gift Ideas for Newly-Wedded
Couples by Natalie Aranda
As the Christmas season approaches, exciting gifts come across our mind to
remind us that people we love deserve a special present. However, if Christmas
gifts coincide with an event such as the wedding of your best friends, finding
the right present for your preferred Newly-Wedded Couple is an exciting
activity.
Newly Weds often dream of wealth building as they begin a life together so
thinking of engraved gifts that motivate such dreams are just one of the many
options you have for a Christmas gift. In fact, some wedding gifts and marriage
symbols are closely related to wealth and abundance.
Engraved gifts are among the
most appreciated weeding presents and they make great Christmas gifts as well.
You can find them in a large variety of sizes, shapes, and styles, including
personal items such as jewelry boxes, but also money clips, key chains, and much
more. Specific symbols can be ordered in most cases, including wealth-building
symbols such as chests, pyramids, etc.
At first glance, GI Joe
collectables could seem a gift related to the groom, but these action
figures have a background in history and collectible rewards. A newly wedded
couple can feel identified with GI Joe in such ways since the figures represent
heroes or heroic actions. Wealth
building is a sort of heroic battle that both groom and bride are just about
to take
As collectible items, you will find a number of three-action packs with a
variety of characters, as well as traditional heroes, vehicles, Cobra troopers,
commando series, just to name a few. Whether you chose an action figure or
engraved gifts, take in mind your friends preferences and not your personal
taste.
People often go with the idea of getting the present that they would like to
receive, instead of considering the newly weds preferences. However, focusing
your mind on wealth building, instead of any other specific theme, your chances
of choosing the right present will multiply considerably.
Remember that these presents are not limited to symbolic items that you can
purchase. If you are wondering about a great Christmas gift, what better that
giving away an audio-program that teaches your friends how to build their new
wealth as a married couple. These programs are also available in different
formats including video, CDrom, DVD, and even printed formats for your
convenience, matching the newly wedded couple needs.
Depending on how close your relation is with the couple, you can subtle
inquire more about their expectations after marry. They are meant to be an
average couple, or they are going to be true partners in love, finances and
household matters. If you see they want to progress in life going hand in hand,
go for a wealth building-related Christmas gift.
Otherwise, you can always try GI Joe Action Figures just as an original
present if they have no idea of the motivation that such characters provide or
go for traditional engraved gifts that almost never fail.

Easy Christmas Gift Ideas For $10 Or Less.
by Katherine Durkes
For many people, the holidays are a time for giving and receiving, but also
spending and money-related stress. Presents for friends and
family are one thing; most allow for those in their holiday budget.
The real pressure -- both emotional and financial -- comes from the
obligation gifts. Those are the presents for people who are less than friends,
but more than strangers. Often outnumbering close friends and family, these
names on your Christmas list are usually the cause of holiday shopping stress
and debt.
You sincerely want to include teachers, office mates, neighbors, and people
from community groups. How do you do it and still have a manageable credit card
bill in January?
With just a little creativity, you can work around your holiday budget and
still include everyone. Gifts that are handmade -- or that have a handmade
component -- are meaningful, memorable, and don't break the bank.
Don't worry, you don't have to be Martha Stewart to handle the ideas on this
list. Most of these gifts require only 3 to 5 minutes of assembly time, and they
are all $10 or less. I have actually given or received all of these!
- Homemade pet treats. Home-baked cookies are sometimes not welcomed
because they add onto holiday weight gain. But how about homemade pet treats
instead? Google for "pet recipes" and I am sure you'll find something
you can handle. Baked pet treats are all the rage in upscale pet boutiques.
Find a dog, cat, or bone-shaped cookie cutter at Target, and you'll be the
talk of the dog-walking circuit.
- A classic winter poem. This may be a little sappy, but it's from
the heart. Using your "best handwriting," write out one of your favorite poems
on nice paper. Robert Frost's "Stopping By Woods On A Snowy Evening" is always
a good choice. This is a great idea for hobby calligraphers.
- Family recipes. Does your family have a secret recipe for
something? I'm convinced that every family has at least one culinary specialty
-- what is yours? Your aunt's best chocolate chip cookies? Your uncle's
traditional eggnog? Many folks get stuck in a rut when it comes to holiday
menus, and plenty would welcome the chance to try something new.
- Tea (especially green tea.) A little gift of tea will help the
people in your life stay healthy during the virus-filled months of December
and January. Include brewing instructions, and maybe even an article or two on
the health benefits of drinking tea. You can pick up a box of
tea at Whole Foods for around $4, but don't give a mug. Their cabinets are
probably bursting with those!
- "Make your own t-shirt" kit. This is a great one for young or
creative people. All you need is a plain t-shirt (easily bought at Target or
Wal-Mart) and a fabric pen, which you can get at an art supply store such as
Blick's or Michael's. Of course, you can also design the shirt and give them
the finished product, but I think giving them the kit is more fun!
- Lessons. If you are better at something than anyone else, consider
giving lessons. For instance, are you an expert at grill cuisine? Can you
skate backwards? Style or color hair? Change your own oil? The possibilities
are endless -- and you can make a lot of friends this way.
- Bath and body products. You really can't go wrong for a gift that
women and girls love to receive. Although it sounds hard, you can easily make
your own bath and body products for $4 - $7 per bottle, especially if you do
it in batches. Like everything on this list, it is fast and doesn't take any
real skill. You can visit my website on making Bath and Body Works style
products for more information (also in the Resource Box.)
Use these examples or come up with your own. Making your own handmade gifts
or creative kits is a way to save money, reduce stress, and have a lot of fun!
After all, the holidays are supposed to be a time of enjoyment. A bonus tip --
get started now, and you will give yourself a precious gift: free time! I wish
you the best of luck.
